| Abstract: | "On Elizabeth Taylor : an opinionated guide is a complete review of the career of a singular actress and film star of the twentieth century. Each of her 67 film appearances is recapped with background on their sources, production, release, and critical and financial reception. Also included are her television films, select TV guest spots, and live theater. Included is an introduction to the phenomenon of Elizabeth Taylor, with an emphasis on her film stardom. This is followed by a biographical chronology, where her well-covered marriages, illnesses, jewelry collection, and fantastic philanthropy on behalf of people with AIDS/HIV are chronicled. Taylor's acting, what she brought to the screen, is examined in detail, and includes a consideration of her specific art, the development of her voice, her relationship to the camera, and her canny understanding of the effect she had on audiences worldwide. Responses from her costars and directors are also included.
