Abstract:At the end of the 19th century, by decision of the Ottoman administration, the settlement of Kritika was created in the northwestern part of Rhodes, a few kilometers outside the walled city. Some of the Greek-speaking Muslim refugees who came from Crete settled there and were a "minority within a minority", both in terms of the Turkish-speaking Muslims already living on the island and in terms of the Orthodox Greeks. The present research attempts to examine the horizontal overlaps that the palimpsest of the district, whose memory and identity are predominantly Muslim, has received. He wonders if, in the area of the Cretans, records of public memory can be seen from the respective cultural codes of the residents or visitors of the area
