Abstract:With an emphasis on recent works not previously exhibited in Vancouver that hold a particular resonance for this time and place, this catalogue reflects the activity of both upcoming and more established artists. Encompassing a variety of media, scale, and modes of presentation, the artworks and critical reflections address themes such as cultural resilience, suppressed histories, emancipated futures, performance of identity, and embodied knowledge. Published with the 2021 exhibition "Vancouver Special: Disorientations and Echo", the second in what is envisioned as a series of exhibitions providing an expansive look at contemporary art in the Greater Vancouver region. Exhibition: Vancouver Art Gallery, Canada (29.05.2021 - 03.01.2022)
