Abstract:Evgeny Kissin-Yuri Bashmet and Sayaka Shoji-Nelson Goerner: Brahms duos in perfect harmony. The Verbier Festival is the essential event of the summer festival season. Its main characteristic is a passionate and hard work with the most prestigious stars of classical music. Promoting younger artists and revealing new talents are also part of its glorious reputation. This program goes to convince the ones who still doubt of this. In the first part of this concert, the Argentinian pianist Nelson Goerner accompanies Sayaka Shoj, the youngest winner of the Premio Paganini of the International Violin Competition in Genova in 1999. Her talent soon caught Zubin Mehta's attention, and thanks to his support, Sayaka Soj was propelled in the forefront of the international music scene. As an exceptional chamber musician, she recorded with Itamar Golan. The second part of the concert gathers two giants of their respective instruments: Evgeny Kissin for the piano and Yuri Bashmet for the viola. They chose to perform the majestic second movement of Benda's violin concerto for the encore, which proves very personal to the violist since he brought back to life this orchestral piece by the Czech composer by transposing it for viola and piano
