Abstract:Wood-decaying saprotrophic fungi of the phylum Basidiomycota occur almost ubiquitously. Due to their ability to degrade lignin, hemicellulose and cellulose, especially white-rot fungi are among the most important destroyer of lignocellulosic biomass such as deadwood in nature.
