Abstract: | "The globally spreading privatization wave that occurred in the 1990s deeply changed the structure of economic institutions worldwide. This turmoil overturned not only economic institutions, but shared cultural and societal institutions as well. This book is the result of an investigation into the history of the privatization of the steel industry in Italy, completed between 1994 and 1995. It explores the history of the Italian steel industry by looking at the interplay of local intertwined interests, political relations, and ideological formations that characterized an idiosyncratic hegemonic historical bloc. Rather than stigmatising this pattern as the legacy of a dysfunctional provincialism, the authors mobilise Gramsci's theory of hegemony to explain how the Italian privatization process unfolded to accommodate economic pressures, political interests, and ideological constraints of a hegemonic social group, or aggregation of social groups. Thus, in reconstructing the privatization of Italian steel, this book proposes a hegemony theory of privatization and, more generally, describes a model that explains how political and cultural dynamics give rise to idiosyncratic local variations in globally spreading policies. It will be of interest to researchers, academics, and students in the fields of business history, economics, sociology and political science" |

It will be of interest to researchers, academics, and students in the fields of business history, economics, sociology and political science" Gramsci, Antonio 1891-1937 (DE-588)118541463 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte 1994-1995 gnd rswk-swf Politik (DE-588)4046514-7 gnd rswk-swf Hegemonie (DE-588)4023979-2 gnd rswk-swf Privatisierung (DE-588)4047297-8 gnd rswk-swf Eisen- und Stahlindustrie (DE-588)4014005-2 gnd rswk-swf Italien (DE-588)4027833-5 gnd rswk-swf Steel industry and trade / Italy / History / 20th century Privatization / Italy / History / 20th century Italy / Politics and government / 20th century Hegemony / Italy / History / 20th century Privatisation / Italie / Histoire / 20e siècle Italie / Politique et gouvernement / 20e siècle Hégémonie / Italie / Histoire / 20e siècle Hegemony Politics and government Privatization Steel industry and trade Italy 1900-1999 History Gramsci, Antonio 1891-1937 (DE-588)118541463 p Italien (DE-588)4027833-5 g Eisen- und Stahlindustrie (DE-588)4014005-2 s Privatisierung (DE-588)4047297-8 s Politik (DE-588)4046514-7 s Hegemonie (DE-588)4023979-2 s Geschichte 1994-1995 z DE-604 Pareschi, Luca Verfasser (DE-588)1265680604 aut Äquivalent Druck-Ausgabe, Paperback 978-1-032-24399-3 Äquivalent Druck-Ausgabe, Paperback 9781032243993 Erscheint auch als Online-Ausgabe 9780429438516 Digitalisierung BSB München - ADAM Catalogue Enrichment application/pdf http://bvbr.bib-bvb.de:8991/F?func=service&doc_library=BVB01&local_base=BVB01&doc_number=033745144&sequence=000001&line_number=0001&func_code=DB_RECORDS&service_type=MEDIA Inhaltsverzeichnis |
