Abstract: | Introduction: Tabletop Politics -- Toward an Autarchic Italy -- Agricultural Labour and the Fight for Taste -- Raising Children on the Factory Line -- Recipes for Exceptional Times -- Model Fascist Kitchens -- Conclusion: From Feeding Fascism to Eating Mussolini "Feeding Fascism explores how women negotiated the politics of Italy’s Fascist regime in their daily lives and how they fed their families through agricultural and industrial labour. The book looks at women’s experiences of Fascism by examining the material world in which they lived in relation to their thoughts, feelings, and actions. Over the past decade, Diana Garvin has conducted extensive research in Italian museums, libraries, and archives. Feeding Fascism includes illustrations of rare cookbooks, kitchen utensils, cafeteria plans, and culinary propaganda to connect women’s political beliefs with the places that they lived and worked and the objects that they owned and borrowed. Garvin draws on first-hand accounts, such as diaries, work songs, and drawings, that demonstrate how women and the Fascist state vied for control over national diet across many manifestations-- cooking, feeding, and eating--to assert and negotiate their authority. Revealing the national stakes of daily choices, and the fine line between resistance and consent, Feeding Fascism attests to the power of food."-- |

Revealing the national stakes of daily choices, and the fine line between resistance and consent, Feeding Fascism attests to the power of food."-- Sachkultur (DE-588)4051157-1 gnd rswk-swf Ernährung (DE-588)4015332-0 gnd rswk-swf Faschismus (DE-588)4016494-9 gnd rswk-swf Alltag (DE-588)4001307-8 gnd rswk-swf Frau (DE-588)4018202-2 gnd rswk-swf Italien (DE-588)4027833-5 gnd rswk-swf Food habits / Italy / History / 20th century Food / Political aspects / Italy / History / 20th century Fascism and women / Italy / History / 20th century Women agricultural laborers / Italy / History / 20th century Women in the food industry / Italy / History / 20th century Women / Italy / Social conditions / 20th century Cooking / Italy / History / 20th century Fascism / Italy Italien (DE-588)4027833-5 g Faschismus (DE-588)4016494-9 s Frau (DE-588)4018202-2 s Alltag (DE-588)4001307-8 s Ernährung (DE-588)4015332-0 s Sachkultur (DE-588)4051157-1 s DE-604 Erscheint auch als Online-Ausgabe, EPUB 978-1-4875-2820-1 Erscheint auch als Online-Ausgabe, PDF 978-1-4875-28195 Digitalisierung BSB München - ADAM Catalogue Enrichment application/pdf http://bvbr.bib-bvb.de:8991/F?func=service&doc_library=BVB01&local_base=BVB01&doc_number=033189912&sequence=000001&line_number=0001&func_code=DB_RECORDS&service_type=MEDIA Inhaltsverzeichnis |
