Abstract: | We often think of collections as fixed and solid entities, staying in one place and passed from generation to generation within that place. This case study takes as its focus a portrait of Charlotte de France to open up a path to new thinking about the ways collections often moved from one place to another, in particular during times of political conflicts, and the challenges these migrations pose to art historians studying these works of art today. |
