Abstract: | "Information and Communications Technology Law in Singapore is the first and only textbook to bring together a variety of topics on the law regulating the use of infocomm technology ("ICT"). The authors provide a comprehensive account of local jurisprudence in relation to the subject and also delve into a comparative study of the laws in other jurisdictions in areas where domestic law is still in its infancy. This work will provide the reader with a deep understanding of the domestic and global trends in the development of online regulations, the domain name regime, e-commerce and computer crime laws as well as laws concerning data protection and privacy interests. Any textbook on this subject must necessarily examine the impact of the ICT revolution on the enforcement of intellectual property ("IP") rights in the digital environment. A number of chapters have been devoted, specifically, to a careful study of such highly topical issues as the legality of meta-tagging, keyword advertising, hyperlinking and Internet browsing; whether the law of copyright adequately addresses the slew of issues arising from the indiscriminate use of new technology; and the jurisdictional complexities inherent in online IP disputes. This textbook will serve as an essential resource for legal practitioners, scholars and policy makers alike, and will also appeal to the lay person who has an interest in this evolving field of study." -- Back cover |
