SUMMARY The research objective presented in the collection was to analyze the most important issues concerning the main causes and manifestations of crises occurring in secular and in the second decade of the 21st century and to indicate the possibilities of their solution, as well as their most important implications. Some of them will probably let you know about yourself in the near and longer term. Added to this is the difficulty of precisely separating specific causes from symptoms of crises. The fact is that the further process of European integration has become much less predictable than it was a few years ago. Different, more or less probable scenarios for the functioning or decay of the EU and its main consequences arise both for EU Member States and for the European and global international system. Bearing in mind the co-occurrence of many crises in the world in the second decade of the 21st century, the syndrome of many crises and their multifacetedness, it must be admitted that there were no voices that the most serious of them is migration-refugee crisis. The influx of refugees and migrants, unprecedented in EU history, has led, according to numerous evaluations, to the biggest EU crisis since its inception. The intensity of disputes among EU Member States in the context of the solution to the refugee-migration crisis, including questioning in practice the EU solidarity principle and the exposing of state interests by the governments of many states against EU solutions in this area, gave rise to the opinion that the refugee crisis Migration is the biggest threat
to the further integration process within the EU compared to other crises, which, as can be seen, may lead to its disintegration. As you can see, the new international order shaped in our eyes carries a lot of unknowns, and above all the question of whether the new emerging powers will not want to be revisionist powers, and if so, whether they will try to introduce changes by means of peace or strength. The greatest challenge for the 415
Contemporary threats to the security of Europe in the second decade of the 21st century US and the West is the tightening cooperation between Russia and China, which - as the growing dynamics and expanding scope of this cooperation indicates - rather prompts the thesis about strengthening Russia s international position, despite a conflict with the West with Ukraine. When writing about the reconfiguration of the international order, one should not overlook the increasing economic position of China and its growing activity in initiating multilateral projects ensuring their widespread expansion in the Asia-Pacific region, as well as towards Europe. We can say that the rise of China and their initiatives signal a clear striving for supremacy in the world, an unprecedented challenge for the current hegemon - the United States - as well as for the EU. A new manifestation of the reconfiguration of international order is also the delayed return of Iran to international cooperation, after the elimination in January 2016 of sanctions imposed by the United Nations in connection with the nuclear ambitions of that country. Already after the conclusion in July 2015 of agreements with the big six countries (USA, Russia, Great Britain, France, China and Germany), Western countries, China and Russia started a race for contracts with Iran. Iran returns to world markets as the world s second holder of natural gas and a fourth of oil and opens its nearly 80-million market for imported goods. The reconfiguration of the international order that has been occurring for over ten years is a
serious challenge for the West, including its security policy. In order to take advantage of this challenge and prevent the emergence of new threats to international security, it is necessary not only to consolidate the Western security system, but also to engage in dialogue with emerging competitors and rivals and to develop partnership with them. 416
