Summary The collective monograph is dedicated to the cultural and historic legacy of the Anthropos Pavilion in Brno. The book consists of three relatively independent parts in which their authors map and inter pret scientific and research activities linked with this institution. 90 years of the museum Anthropos: The transformations of the museum at the time of the First Czechoslovak Republic is the first study in which Petr Kostrhun discusses the origins and history of the Anthropos Museum, its appearance and activities including its key personalities. The study describes the establishment of the museum from the creation of the exposition Mankind and his Family at the Exhibition of Contemporary Culture in Brno in 1928 to the Pavilion of the City of Prague (1930-1934) to the Moravia Pavilion (1934-1945). The study is the first to discuss the era of Anthropos in the times of the First Czechoslovak Republic in such a vast extent drawing on the archival sources and photographs that have preserved. It also ev idences the fact that the Anthropos Museum enjoyed great attention of experts and of the general public in the interwar period when it became a distinctive phenomenon among Czechoslovak muse ums. In the second study The art of reconstructing prehistory: Beginnings of the visualisation of our an cestors’ appearance and their way of life Barbora Půtová deals with artistic reconstruction of human evolution and explains its objectives and mission. The study describes the nascence of two-dimensional and three-dimensional reconstruction of anthropogenesis. She claims that the
main motif, besides the growing amount of hominine fossil findings and discovery of parietal and portable prehistoric art, is the theory of biological evolution published by the British natural scientist Charles Darwin (18091882). Darwinism later penetrated other European countries where it influenced art and enhanced collaboration between artists and researchers. The study monitors the gradual development and basic milestones of artistic reconstruction of prehistory and human evolution in Europe and in the U.S. from the 1850s to the Second World War. The third study Behind the secrets of the collections ofA. de Pani agua, officer of the French Legion of Flonour Zdeňka Nerudová describes a collection of the Anthropos Institute that reflects the effort and vision of the archaeologist Karel Absolon to build a comparative collection. The collection of the French historian and officer of the Legion of Honour André de Pani agua (1848-1931) was purchased for the museum in 1929. A detailed list of the Palaeolithic part of the collection was made at the beginning of the 1970s by Karel Valoch. The study also focuses on Neolithic industries and it presents a detailed itemization of the collection for the first time. The monograph does not aspire to present a complete and exhaustive rendition of the research topic. It is rather driven by the effort to present the cultural legacy of the Anthropos Museum on selected examples. Last but not least, it points out the importance of research activities of the Moravian Museum as its collections document that Czech archaeologists and
anthropologists followed and sometimes even set the period trends in gathering items for collections and museum expositions.
Souhrn Kolektivní vědecká monografie je věnována kulturnímu a historickému odkazu Pavilonu Anthropos v Brně. Knihu tvoří tři relativně samostatné části, v nichž auton provádí deskripci, analýzu a interpretaci vědeckých a výzkumných aktivit spojených s touto významnou muzejní institucí. V první studii 90 let muzea Anthropos: Proměny muzea v obdobíprvní Československé republiky její autor archeolog Petr Kostrhun věnuje pozornost vzniku a vývojovým proměnám muzea Anthropos, jeho funkci, cílům a náplni, včetně vědeckého přínosu klíčových osobností. Studie mapuje období vzniku muzea od vytvoření expozice Člověk a jeho rod na Výstavě soudobé kultury v Brně vroce 1928 přes výstavu Pavilon města Prahy (1930-1934) až po expozici Pavilon Morava (1934-1945). Studie zhodnocuje poprvé v takto rozsáhlém kontextu éru prvorepublikového Anthroposu na zá kladě dochovaných archivních pramenů a fotografií. Dokládá zároveň skutečnost, že se muzeum Anthropos v meziválečném období těšilo velké pozornosti odborné i laické veřejnosti a stalo se tak výrazným muzejním fenoménem mezi československými muzei. Ve druhé studii Umění rekon strukce pravěku: počátky vizualizace vzhledu a způsobu života našich předků antropoložka a histo rička umění Barbora Půtová představuje vymezení, cíle a poslání výtvarné rekonstrukce evoluce člověka. Cílem studie je prezentovat zrození a vývojové proměny dvourozměrné a trojrozměrné rekonstrukce průběhu antropogeneze. Za hlavní inspirační zdroje vědeckého zájmu o umělecké rekonstrukce pravěkého světa označuje jak narůstající množství fosilních nálezů homininů a objevů
prehistorického parietálního i mobilního pravěkého umění, tak teorii biologické evoluce, kterou formuloval britský přírodovědec Charles Darwin (1809-1882). Autorka studie upozorňuje na sku tečnost, že idea darwinismu postupně pronikla z Velké Británie do dalších evropských zemí, kde ovlivnila nejenom uměleckou tvorbu, ale také spolupráci umělců a vědců usilujících o výzkum procesu antropogeneze. Proto sleduje postupný vývoj a základní milníky výtvarné rekonstrukce pravěku a evoluce člověka od 50. let 19. století až do období druhé světové války na území Evropy i ve Spojených státech amerických. Ve třetí studii Za tajemstvím sbírek A. de Paniagua, důstojníka francouzské Čestné legie archeoložka Zdeňka Nerudová přibližuje jednu ze sbírek prehistorických artefaktů, které vlastní Ostav Anthropos. Autorka se zde pokusila zachytit úsilí a vize archeologa Karla Absolona, jenž usiloval o vytvoření vlastní srovnávací kolekce prehistorických artefaktů po cházejících z různých zemí Evropy. Jedná se například o sbírku francouzského historika a důstoj níka Čestné legie André de Paniagua (1848-1931), která byla do muzea zakoupena v roce 1929. Detailnější soupis paleolitické části Absolonovy kolekce provedl na počátku 70. let 20. století Karel Valoch. Studie se proto cíleně zaměřuje i na část neolitických industrií a poprvé uvádí detailní sou pis této sbírky. Monografie neaspiruje na úplné a vyčerpávající zpracování zkoumané problematiky. Je vedená spíše snahou prezentovat na vybraných příkladech historický odkaz a kulturní hodnotu muzea Antropos. V neposlední řadě usiluje poukázat na
význam výzkumných aktivit Moravského zemského muzea, jehož sbírky dokládají, že také čeští archeologové a antropologové sledovali a ak tivně ovlivňovali dobové trendy v oblasti sbírkotvorné činnosti nebo prezentace muzejní expozice.

The study is the first to discuss the era of Anthropos in the times of the First Czechoslovak Republic in such a vast extent drawing on the archival sources and photographs that have preserved. It also ev idences the fact that the Anthropos Museum enjoyed great attention of experts and of the general public in the interwar period when it became a distinctive phenomenon among Czechoslovak muse ums. In the second study The art of reconstructing prehistory: Beginnings of the visualisation of our an cestors’ appearance and their way of life Barbora Půtová deals with artistic reconstruction of human evolution and explains its objectives and mission. The study describes the nascence of two-dimensional and three-dimensional reconstruction of anthropogenesis. She claims that the
main motif, besides the growing amount of hominine fossil findings and discovery of parietal and portable prehistoric art, is the theory of biological evolution published by the British natural scientist Charles Darwin (18091882). Darwinism later penetrated other European countries where it influenced art and enhanced collaboration between artists and researchers. The study monitors the gradual development and basic milestones of artistic reconstruction of prehistory and human evolution in Europe and in the U.S. from the 1850s to the Second World War. The third study Behind the secrets of the collections ofA. de Pani agua, officer of the French Legion of Flonour Zdeňka Nerudová describes a collection of the Anthropos Institute that reflects the effort and vision of the archaeologist Karel Absolon to build a comparative collection. The collection of the French historian and officer of the Legion of Honour André de Pani agua (1848-1931) was purchased for the museum in 1929. A detailed list of the Palaeolithic part of the collection was made at the beginning of the 1970s by Karel Valoch. The study also focuses on Neolithic industries and it presents a detailed itemization of the collection for the first time. The monograph does not aspire to present a complete and exhaustive rendition of the research topic. It is rather driven by the effort to present the cultural legacy of the Anthropos Museum on selected examples. Last but not least, it points out the importance of research activities of the Moravian Museum as its collections document that Czech archaeologists and
anthropologists followed and sometimes even set the period trends in gathering items for collections and museum expositions.
Souhrn Kolektivní vědecká monografie je věnována kulturnímu a historickému odkazu Pavilonu Anthropos v Brně. Knihu tvoří tři relativně samostatné části, v nichž auton provádí deskripci, analýzu a interpretaci vědeckých a výzkumných aktivit spojených s touto významnou muzejní institucí. V první studii 90 let muzea Anthropos: Proměny muzea v obdobíprvní Československé republiky její autor archeolog Petr Kostrhun věnuje pozornost vzniku a vývojovým proměnám muzea Anthropos, jeho funkci, cílům a náplni, včetně vědeckého přínosu klíčových osobností. Studie mapuje období vzniku muzea od vytvoření expozice Člověk a jeho rod na Výstavě soudobé kultury v Brně vroce 1928 přes výstavu Pavilon města Prahy (1930-1934) až po expozici Pavilon Morava (1934-1945). Studie zhodnocuje poprvé v takto rozsáhlém kontextu éru prvorepublikového Anthroposu na zá kladě dochovaných archivních pramenů a fotografií. Dokládá zároveň skutečnost, že se muzeum Anthropos v meziválečném období těšilo velké pozornosti odborné i laické veřejnosti a stalo se tak výrazným muzejním fenoménem mezi československými muzei. Ve druhé studii Umění rekon strukce pravěku: počátky vizualizace vzhledu a způsobu života našich předků antropoložka a histo rička umění Barbora Půtová představuje vymezení, cíle a poslání výtvarné rekonstrukce evoluce člověka. Cílem studie je prezentovat zrození a vývojové proměny dvourozměrné a trojrozměrné rekonstrukce průběhu antropogeneze. Za hlavní inspirační zdroje vědeckého zájmu o umělecké rekonstrukce pravěkého světa označuje jak narůstající množství fosilních nálezů homininů a objevů
prehistorického parietálního i mobilního pravěkého umění, tak teorii biologické evoluce, kterou formuloval britský přírodovědec Charles Darwin (1809-1882). Autorka studie upozorňuje na sku tečnost, že idea darwinismu postupně pronikla z Velké Británie do dalších evropských zemí, kde ovlivnila nejenom uměleckou tvorbu, ale také spolupráci umělců a vědců usilujících o výzkum procesu antropogeneze. Proto sleduje postupný vývoj a základní milníky výtvarné rekonstrukce pravěku a evoluce člověka od 50. let 19. století až do období druhé světové války na území Evropy i ve Spojených státech amerických. Ve třetí studii Za tajemstvím sbírek A. de Paniagua, důstojníka francouzské Čestné legie archeoložka Zdeňka Nerudová přibližuje jednu ze sbírek prehistorických artefaktů, které vlastní Ostav Anthropos. Autorka se zde pokusila zachytit úsilí a vize archeologa Karla Absolona, jenž usiloval o vytvoření vlastní srovnávací kolekce prehistorických artefaktů po cházejících z různých zemí Evropy. Jedná se například o sbírku francouzského historika a důstoj níka Čestné legie André de Paniagua (1848-1931), která byla do muzea zakoupena v roce 1929. Detailnější soupis paleolitické části Absolonovy kolekce provedl na počátku 70. let 20. století Karel Valoch. Studie se proto cíleně zaměřuje i na část neolitických industrií a poprvé uvádí detailní sou pis této sbírky. Monografie neaspiruje na úplné a vyčerpávající zpracování zkoumané problematiky. Je vedená spíše snahou prezentovat na vybraných příkladech historický odkaz a kulturní hodnotu muzea Antropos. V neposlední řadě usiluje poukázat na
význam výzkumných aktivit Moravského zemského muzea, jehož sbírky dokládají, že také čeští archeologové a antropologové sledovali a ak tivně ovlivňovali dobové trendy v oblasti sbírkotvorné činnosti nebo prezentace muzejní expozice.
