Zusammenfassung: | In this book, conceived and written for the general reader as well as the specialist, Robert Edelman uses a case study of peasant behavior during a particular revolutionary situation to make an important contribution to one of the major debates in contemporary peasant studies. Edelman's subject is the peasantry of the right-bank Ukraine, and he uses local and regional archives seldom available to Western scholars to give a detailed picture of the ways in which the inhabitants of one of Russia’s most advanced agrarian regions expressed their discontent during the years 1905–1907. By the 1890s, the landlords of Russia’s Southwest had organized a highly successful capitalist form of agriculture, and Edelman demonstrates that their peasants responded to these dramatic economic changes by adopting many of the forms of political and social behavior generally associated with urban proletarians |

Cornell University Press [2016] © 1987 1 online resource txt rdacontent c rdamedia cr rdacarrier Description based on online resource; title from PDF title page (publisher's Web site, viewed Feb. 24, 2017) In this book, conceived and written for the general reader as well as the specialist, Robert Edelman uses a case study of peasant behavior during a particular revolutionary situation to make an important contribution to one of the major debates in contemporary peasant studies. By the 1890s, the landlords of Russia’s Southwest had organized a highly successful capitalist form of agriculture, and Edelman demonstrates that their peasants responded to these dramatic economic changes by adopting many of the forms of political and social behavior generally associated with urban proletarians In English Geschichte 1900-2000 Geschichte 1905-1907 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte Peasants Ukraine History 20th century Strikes and lockouts Ukraine History 20th century Russische Revolution 1905 (DE-588)4178762-6 gnd rswk-swf Bauer (DE-588)4004763-5 gnd rswk-swf Ukraine Südwest (DE-588)4522542-4 gnd rswk-swf Rechtsufrige Ukraine (DE-588)4347593-0 gnd rswk-swf Russland Südwest (DE-588)4481606-6 gnd rswk-swf Ukraine Südwest (DE-588)4522542-4 g Rechtsufrige Ukraine (DE-588)4347593-0 g Russland Südwest (DE-588)4481606-6 g Russische Revolution 1905 (DE-588)4178762-6 s Bauer (DE-588)4004763-5 s Geschichte 1905-1907 z DE-604 https://doi.org/10.7591/9781501707681 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext |
