Zusammenfassung: | Focusing on a wide range of poetry written between 1941 and 1945, this work explores Soviet poets' response to World War II. It also traces the influence of Stalinist culture, and departures from literary conventions established in the pre-war years. In a chronological survey, the poets' immediate reaction to the events of the war is placed in its historical and literary-political context. The use of pre-war, official literary conventions associated with socialist realism is discussed in relation to the portrayal of heroes and leaders. The book then describes of the rise of the common man, epitomized in Tvardovskii's "Vasilii Terkin", which provides an alternative to the faceless, superhuman hero, and relates this to the potentially subversive revival of lyric poetry. While the bulk of poetry concentrates on war as a masculine affair, women did play a role, both as poets and the subjects of poems. Questions of the perception of femininity, women's place in wartime, and the feminization of heroic paradigms, are examined in relation to the representation of women as soldiers, the symbol of Mother Russia, and the work of women poets |

Questions of the perception of femininity, women's place in wartime, and the feminization of heroic paradigms, are examined in relation to the representation of women as soldiers, the symbol of Mother Russia, and the work of women poets Geschichte 1900-2000 Geschichte 1914-1990 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte 1939-1945 gnd rswk-swf Weltkrieg (1939-1945) Russian poetry / 20th century / History and criticism War poetry, Russian / History and criticism World War, 1939-1945 / Soviet Union / Literature and the war Lyrik (DE-588)4036774-5 gnd rswk-swf Russisch (DE-588)4051038-4 gnd rswk-swf Anthologie (DE-588)4002214-6 gnd rswk-swf Kriegslyrik (DE-588)4165697-0 gnd rswk-swf Zweiter Weltkrieg Motiv (DE-588)4133624-0 gnd rswk-swf Zweiter Weltkrieg (DE-588)4079167-1 gnd rswk-swf Krieg Motiv (DE-588)4136410-7 gnd rswk-swf Literatur (DE-588)4035964-5 gnd rswk-swf Sowjetunion 1\p (DE-588)4113937-9 Hochschulschrift gnd-content Russisch (DE-588)4051038-4 s Lyrik (DE-588)4036774-5 s Krieg Motiv (DE-588)4136410-7 s Geschichte 1914-1990 z 2\p DE-604 Kriegslyrik (DE-588)4165697-0 s Zweiter Weltkrieg (DE-588)4079167-1 s Anthologie (DE-588)4002214-6 s 3\p DE-604 Zweiter Weltkrieg Motiv (DE-588)4133624-0 s 4\p DE-604 Literatur (DE-588)4035964-5 s Geschichte 1939-1945 z 5\p DE-604 Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe 978-0-85323-710-5 https://doi.org/10.5949/UPO9781846317637 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 3\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 4\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 5\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
