Zusammenfassung: | "It was no accident that the Holocaust and the Atomic Bomb happened at the same time. When the Nazis came into power in 1933, their initial objective was not to get rid of Jews. Rather, their aim was to refine German culture: Jewish professors and teachers at fine universities were sacked. Atomic science had attracted a lot of Jewish talent, and as Albert Einstein and other quantum exiles scattered, they realized that they held the key to a weapon of unimaginable power. Convinced that their gentile counterparts in Germany had come to the same conclusion, and having witnessed what the Nazis were prepared to do, the exiles were afraid. They had to get to the Atomic Bomb first. The Nazis meanwhile had acquired a more pressing objective: their persecution of the Jews had evolved into extermination. Two dreadful projects--the Bomb and the Holocaust--became locked a grisly race."--Jacket |

Two dreadful projects--the Bomb and the Holocaust--became locked a grisly race."--Jacket Deportations from Germany / (1939-1945 / World War) fast Holocaust, Jewish / (1939-1945) fast World War / (1939-1945) fast Geschichte 1933-1945 gnd rswk-swf Atomic bomb / Design and construction / History Holocaust, Jewish (1939-1945) / Germany / Influence Jewish scientists / Germany / History World War, 1939-1945 / Deportations from Germany / Political aspects Atomic bomb / Design and construction fast Buddhism and politics fast Influence (Literary, artistic, etc.) fast Jewish scientists fast Entwicklung gnd Exil gnd Juden gnd Kernwaffe gnd Wissenschaftler gnd Judenvernichtung gnd Nationalsozialismus gnd Geschichte Politik Weltkrieg (1939-1945) Kernwaffe (DE-588)4003434-3 gnd rswk-swf Juden (DE-588)4028808-0 gnd rswk-swf Wissenschaftler (DE-588)4066567-7 gnd rswk-swf Entwicklung (DE-588)4113450-3 gnd rswk-swf Judenvernichtung (DE-588)4073091-8 gnd rswk-swf Nationalsozialismus (DE-588)4041316-0 gnd rswk-swf Exil (DE-588)4015959-0 gnd rswk-swf Germany fast Deutschland gnd Deutschland Deutschland (DE-588)4011882-4 gnd rswk-swf Deutschland (DE-588)4011882-4 g Juden (DE-588)4028808-0 s Wissenschaftler (DE-588)4066567-7 s Exil (DE-588)4015959-0 s Kernwaffe (DE-588)4003434-3 s Entwicklung (DE-588)4113450-3 s Geschichte 1933-1945 z 1\p DE-604 Judenvernichtung (DE-588)4073091-8 s Nationalsozialismus (DE-588)4041316-0 s 2\p DE-604 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
