SUMMARY
KOSOVA DWELLINGS
- KLINA
Dwellings are an element of the geography study, which give a
preview of the level of growth and the general economical and social
situation of its population. In the formation, growth and the type of
dwelling, the physical-geographical factors such as the composition of
the land, the climate, the water, the flora, socio-historical and
economical factors, play a very important role. The objective of the
study in this publication is the dwellings in the municipality of Klina
from the historic, geographic and demographic aspect. I have tried to
present the scientific truth, based on archeological proof, historical
facts, archival data, spoken materials and other information collected in
the field. Briefly some of the main characteristics of the dwellings of
this municipality have been presented, including the geographic
position, spatial distribution, families, neighborhoods, topography
facts, archaeological evidence, archival and historical resources,
statistical data, demolitions, destructions, killings and wars up to 1998-
99. In this book the origin and the movements have not been presented,
because a more complex research needs to be done for that, for which I
think that the future generations should do.
This publication presents the history of the dwellings, the
invasions and different standards on the population of these places and
the information given by them in regards to the dwellings. The most
important are the statistical data on the number of inhabitants in these
places. This publication is published as a part of a monographic study
of the dwellings of Kosova, which will be published in a few editions.
Due to the geographic position, the appropriate living
conditions, natural resources and the climate, the municipality of Klina
has been inhabited and has had dwellings ever since the ancient times.
In many locations, if there were archeological researches to be done
many facts would be found on the early dwellings. Because of wars,
diseases, fires, earthquakes the dwellings have been demolished and
abandoned, and then again after some time were revived and rebuilt
again, in that same area or somewhere nearby. In the past the Illyrians

(the ancestors of Albanians) were living in the Kosovo region and even
wider in the Ballkans. Due to invasions, migrations of different nations
this Illyrian territory became smaller. In this way the population
structure started to change especially when the Slavs from the north
and the Karpate Mountains came. When the Slavs came many
geographic Illyrian antic names have changed, some have been
forgotten and some have been changed to Slav names.
The dwellings network in the municipality of Klina consists of
the municipal central administration, local centers, dwellings,
neighborhoods, and groups of houses, altogether 57 dwellings. In terms
of spatial distribution, the largest number of the dwellings in the
munici-pality of Klina are on the mountain sides, a small number is in
the lower places (valleys) and around the main roads. There are two
types of the spatial distribution of the dwellings; the collective
dwellings and distributed (dispersed) dwellings.
In this publication, the readers will be more familiar with
historical and demographical facts for the dwellings in the Klina
region. Its own inhabitants can best interpret the history, geography,
economy and the ethnography. Therefore, the history, the different
wars and the heroism should be written by them, in an authentic way,
not like it has happened until now with the dwellings of Kosova
(Klina), to be written by others in a subjective way and with the
tendency of being biased.
