Bilingual education has become a major trend throughout
multilingual Europe both at primary and secondary school
level. This book offers a concise and reader-friendly
introduction to bilingual teaching and learning at primary
school level. It provides a state of the art overview of
current approaches, issues, research results, and teaching
practices of bilingual education at primary schools.
The book is written by renowned experts in the field of
bilingual education and addresses university students,
teacher trainees as well as in-service-teachers. It can be
used for self study purposes as well as for university
seminars. The authors focus on goals, chances and
challenges of the integration of bilingual teaching and
learning programmes such as
CLIL,
Immersion, or Bilingual
