Abstract:La Peyrère argued that there had been two creations, the first of the world as a whole, the second of the Jewish people, of whom Adam was the head. He claimed that all races were not descended from Noah, that the Gentiles had not sinned at all because they had not received the law, the the Chaldeans, the Egyptians, and the Chinese came before Adam, etc. The work was condemned to be burned.
