Abstract: | Abstract: "We explain the outline of Juan, which is a deductive and object-oriented database language under design, along the line of extensions of deductive databases with object-oriented concepts. In Juan, data and procedures are expressed in the framework of logic programming. Object identifiers are in the form of extended terms for intentionally defined or persistent objects, unification of which is formulated in record algebra. Properties of objects are appropriate for partial information. All attributes in a head of a rule is also in the form of extended terms to play a role of methods. Modular concepts are introduced in Juan and a query is processed by message passing between modules. In this paper, we describe mainly the features of Juan." |
