| Abstract: | The article qualifies the relationship between the two Munich art dealerships notably in the two decades following the opening of Gallery Thannhauser in 1909, highlighting parallels (such as the opening of a branch in Lucerne, Switzerland) as well as differences (continuity versus forced migration). Studying the accessible records regarding trans actions and interactions, the peculiar character of competition and cooperation is explored in diverse settings and contexts, extending from Heinrich to his son Justin Thannhauser in the early 1950s. |
