Zusammenfassung: | The first feature film of Ferenc Kósa was a characteristic work of the "happiest barracks" in both its production and reception, and the first feature turned out by the experimentally-minded Béla Balázs Studio. Almost the entire staff took part in the background historical and sociographic research and tasks. Ballad-like in tone, this chronicle of thirty years of peasant life, in its innovative visual expression and geometric panoramas symbolizing the fate of an entire people, spoke of dictatorship in Central Europe and historical taboos including Recsk and 1956. The film received its public première in Hungary only after alterations and reediting by the censor, and after Kósa had won the award for Best Director at the Cannes Film Festival in 1967. It marked the beginning of a long creative collaboration between Kósa, writer Sándor Csoóri and cinematographer Sándor Sára, which extended to more than ten films. [www.mupa.hu] |
