Abstract:In 2006, the Mozart22 project took place in honor of the 250th anniversary of the composer's birth. It was a major project to recreate the twenty-two operas and oratorios composed by Mozart. This documentary goes behind the scenes of the production ofAscanio in Alba at that tim The Salzburg Festival of 2006 gathered the best specialists of the Mozart repertoire - singers, conductors and directors - to interpret this unique selection of works. This documentary decrypts opera composition and its context: are interviewed director David Hermann, alongside Christof Hetzer in charge of costumes. We also discover the rich testimonies of remarkable singers of this production: Sonia Prima singing the role of Ascanio and Marie-Belle Sandis playing Silvia Diana Damrau. Created for the first time in 1771,Ascanio in Alba was composed at the request of the Imperial Court of Vienna in honor of the marriage of Archduke Ferdinand of Austria. Mozart composed this beautiful opera amid mythological themes. Ascanio learns of his mother Venus that he must marry Silvia Alba with nymph. Burning with the desire to meet the latter, however Ascanio is warned by Venus to not reveal his identity immediately in order to test the virtue of Silvia
