| Abstract: | In the wake of 9/11, religion has made a comeback as a geopolitical and discursive reality. Literary criticism and theory too are turning increasingly towards religion in the cultural production of the present and past. This issue of CLW pays attention to a vast array of literary traditions, confessions and methodological perspectives, with topics ranging from modern Zen Buddhist autobiographies to the Jewish urban novel, and from the vagaries of a Bible motif to Sufi motifs in German literature. In de nasleep van 9/11 heeft religie een comeback gemaakt als geopolitieke en discursieve realiteit. Ook de literatuurwetenschap richt de blik steeds vaker op religie in de culturele productie van heden en verleden. Dit CLW-nummer geeft aandacht aan een breed palet van literaire tradities, confessies en methodologische invalshoeken, met onderwerpen van moderne zenboeddhistische autobiografieën tot de joodse stadsroman, en van de reis van een bijbelmotief tot soefi-motieven in Duitse literatuur. 00In the wake of 9/11, religion has made a comeback as a geopolitical and discursive reality.
