Streszczenie PRZEDSIĘBIORCZOŚĆ IMIGRANTÓW W POLSCE. PODEJŚCIA I WYZWANIA W PROWADZENIU BADAŃ Streszczenie Celem książki pt. Do tychczasowe
badania realizowane były głównie w dużych miastach i ich okolicach, m.in. w Warszawie i Krakowie. 181
Abstract IMMIGRANT ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN POLAND. APPROACHES AND CHALLENGES IN CONDUCTING RESEARCH Abstract The aim of the book “Immigrant Entrepreneurship in Poland. Approaches and Challenges in Conducting Research” is an overview of the most important research issues, methodological problems in the field of research on migrant entrepreneurship, an attempt to adapt the existing methodological and conceptual framework to the Pol ish specificity and to organise the terminology of migrant entrepreneurship. Being aware of the interdisciplinarity of the issue of migrant entrepreneurship, the monograph was written mainly from the perspective of two disciplines: economics and finance and management and quality sciences. The book discusses the difficulties in the implementation of the research among the migrants running a business - re sulting from formal and non-formal reasons. The former result mainly from impre cise statistics relating to immigrant entrepreneurs, the lack of possibility to obtain the personal data of the respondent, which makes it impossible to carry out representative quantitative research. In the latter case, it is necessary to face the huge mistrust of respondents, which in many cases hinders the implementation of qualitative research and affects the scope of data obtained during the in-depth interviews. The analyses are based on the authors’ experience gained during the implemen tation of qualitative field research among immigrants running their businesses in the Opole Voivodeship the results of which are presented in this book. So far, similar re search
has been carried out mainly in large cities and their surroundings, including Warsaw and Krakow. The uniqueness of the conducted research results from the fact that it concerned a peripheral area and covered the entire region. Therefore, to some extent, the monograph complements the existing knowledge in the field of research on entrepreneurship of migrants in the regional perspective. This book is addressed to researchers, academic teachers and students, as well as representatives of local and government institutions. The representatives of science will find a summary of the latest research trends, guidelines for planning and imple mentation of research among migrant entrepreneurs. Practitioners and decision-mak ers will find in it policy recommendations, mainly at the regional level, including the need for greater involvement of business environment institutions in the activities aimed at migrants running a business. 182
