Zusammenfassung: | The long-established association of Romanticism with youth has resulted in the early poems of the Lake Poets being considered the most significant. Tim Fulford challenges the tendency to overlook the later poetry of no longer youthful poets, which has had the result of neglecting the Wordsworth, Coleridge and Southey of the 1820s and leaving unexamined the three poets' rise to popularity in the 1830s and 1840s. He offers a fresh perspective on the Lake Poets as professional writers shaping long careers through new work as well as the republication of their early successes. The theme of lateness, incorporating revision, recollection, age and loss, is examined within contexts including gender, visual art, the commercial book market. Fulford investigates the Lake Poets' later poems for their impact now, while also exploring their historical effects in their own time and counting the costs of their omission from Romanticism |

Fulford investigates the Lake Poets' later poems for their impact now, while also exploring their historical effects in their own time and counting the costs of their omission from Romanticism Southey, Robert 1774-1843 (DE-588)118798146 gnd rswk-swf Wordsworth, William 1770-1850 (DE-588)118635212 gnd rswk-swf Coleridge, Samuel Taylor 1772-1834 (DE-588)118521500 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte 1800-1900 Geschichte 1820-1843 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte 1820-1834 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte 1820-1850 gnd rswk-swf English poetry / 19th century / History and criticism Lake poets Romanticism / Great Britain Lyrik (DE-588)4036774-5 gnd rswk-swf Lake school (DE-588)4166483-8 gnd rswk-swf Großbritannien Lake school (DE-588)4166483-8 s Lyrik (DE-588)4036774-5 s Geschichte 1820-1850 z 1\p DE-604 Southey, Robert 1774-1843 (DE-588)118798146 p Geschichte 1820-1843 z 2\p DE-604 Wordsworth, William 1770-1850 (DE-588)118635212 p 3\p DE-604 Coleridge, Samuel Taylor 1772-1834 (DE-588)118521500 p Geschichte 1820-1834 z 4\p DE-604 Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-1-107-03397-9 https://doi.org/10.1017/CBO9781139524032 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 3\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 4\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
