Zusammenfassung: | Florence has often been studied in the past for its distinctive urban culture and society, while insufficient attention has been paid to the important Tuscan territorial state that was created by Florence in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. Comprising a handful of formerly independent city-states and numerous smaller communities in the plains and mountains, the Florentine 'empire' in Tuscany supplied the markets and fiscal coffers of the Renaissance republic, while providing lessons in statecraft that nourished the political thought of Machiavelli and Guicciardini. This volume comprises seventeen original essays representing the new directions being taken by historians of the Florentine Renaissance. It offers new and exemplary approaches towards state-building, political vocabulary, political economy, civic humanism, local history and social patronage in what is one of the most interesting and well-documented of the states of late medieval and Renaissance Europe |

Milner -- A comment / Giorgio Chittolini Florence has often been studied in the past for its distinctive urban culture and society, while insufficient attention has been paid to the important Tuscan territorial state that was created by Florence in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. It offers new and exemplary approaches towards state-building, political vocabulary, political economy, civic humanism, local history and social patronage in what is one of the most interesting and well-documented of the states of late medieval and Renaissance Europe Geschichte 1375-1737 gnd rswk-swf Politik Wirtschaft Herrschaft (DE-588)4024596-2 gnd rswk-swf Politisches System (DE-588)4046584-6 gnd rswk-swf Tuscany (Italy) / Politics and government / 1434-1737 Tuscany (Italy) / Politics and government / To 1434 Tuscany (Italy) / Economic conditions / 1434-1737 Tuscany (Italy) / Economic conditions / To 1434 Florenz (DE-588)4017581-9 gnd rswk-swf Toskana (DE-588)4060485-8 gnd rswk-swf 1\p (DE-588)4143413-4 Aufsatzsammlung gnd-content 2\p (DE-588)1071861417 Konferenzschrift gnd-content Florenz (DE-588)4017581-9 g Herrschaft (DE-588)4024596-2 s Politisches System (DE-588)4046584-6 s Geschichte 1375-1737 z 3\p DE-604 Toskana (DE-588)4060485-8 g 4\p DE-604 Connell, William J. 1958- (DE-588)132424711 edt Zorzi, Andrea (DE-588)1061143848 edt Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-0-521-54800-7 Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-0-521-59111-9 https://doi.org/10.1017/CBO9780511523120 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 3\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 4\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
