Der Autor stellt diese Theorien in einen umfassenden historischen und systematischen Zusammenhang. Er schließt eine wesentliche Lücke der bisherigen Diskussion: Die Kriterienproblematik wird verbunden mit einer Untersuchung der Konstitutionsbedingungen von Personalität. Entgegen vorschnellen Vereinfachungen führt die Analyse zu dem Ergebnis, daß die Kontextabhängigkeit des Personbegriffs eine Pluralität von spezifischen Identitätskriterien bedingt Main description: The study is centred on the problem of personal identity.
