The book is concerned with the stories of Albert
Púčik,
the student
of the medicine, Anton Tunega, the student of the Technical University
and
Eduard Tesár,
the student of the Law, an officer of the Passport
Department at the Commission of the Interior. These three students were
the victims of the Communistic justice and were executed from the poli¬
tical reasons on
20
February
1951.
This case has not been deeply clarified
by the historians up till now. Generally it is known that the political trial

belonged to the group of the most widely known
trials. Although it was not opened to the public and the contemporary
propaganda did not use it similarly as the other show trials, it can belong
among the most important show political trials that were in the former
Czechoslovakia and in its part Slovakia. It can be documented by

accused and

condemned people and by the reach to the anti-
communistic resistance at home and abroad too. The aim of this book is
not to document the story of all accused and condemned people. Each
case is the special story for the individual monograph. Therefore the book
is concentrated to triad of the main accused and later on the executed
people: Albert
Púčik,
Anton Tunega and
Eduard Tesár.
The victims of the show trial Albert
Púčik
and
comp.
belonged to
the part of young Slovak generation that kept the Christian and national
ideals. This generation did not have time to strengthen and formulate it¬
self and had to oppose to the difficult tests of the Second World War and
after-war time. They did not have the power mediums but they had cou¬
rage to risk non-equal struggle with the Communistic regime. Up till now
unknown facts and coherences that significantly clarify whole case, were
exposed by the deep historical research in the different archives and by the
interviews with the living witnesses. Big question was trustworthy of the
documents that were mainly the products of the Communistic instituti-

of the State Security, State Court, State Prosecution and Communistic
Party. Therefore it was necessary to compare, evaluate and sensibly inter¬
pret individual sources. The research showed that the last word had the
Security Committee of the Central Committee of Communistic Party of
Czechoslovakia
(ÚV KSČ)
in Prague that decided about the execution
before the decision of the Highest Court in Prague. The trial

should deal the last blow to those who wanted the change of
the political regime. It should show the vigilance and alertness to the
activity of the inner and outer enemy in the time of the Cold War.
In the time of the international and home offensive of Communism
in spring
1947,
A. Púčik,
A. Tunega and
E. Tesár,
in the direct and indi¬
rect connection with
Jozef Vicen,
endeavoured to form reporting net that
should gain cognitions and could help to uncover the real goals, inten¬
tions and practices of the Communistic Party. Real value of the acquired
information was low and later on during the inquest and juridical act was
intentionally exaggerated. It is the fact that this team was one of the first
well-organised reporting group with anti-communistic orientation that
cooperated with the American Counterintelligence Corps
(CIC). Púčik,
Tunega and
Tesár
did not do it for money but because of their idealism.
The acquired information should to serve to unmask of the Communistic
intentions as well as for Slovakia to orientate itself quickly and in the case
of the war conflict to have the lowest losses.
